A self-taught guitar icon, Les Paul’s (Lester William Polsfuss)  unique skills led to the invention of his own solid-body electric guitar prototype, The Log, in 1941. His legendary sound techniques, heard in mostly Country, Jazz and the Blues genres, helped inspire some of the most notable electric guitarists to this day - including Led Zepplins’ Jimmy Page, Slash, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, KISS Ace Freely, Randy Rhodes of Quiet Riot and metal anthems like Crazy Train and Mr. Crowley with Ozzy, and then Zakk Wydle stepped in with Ozzy (and Black Label Society) and became infamous with Les Paul by his pimped out version of the classic - The Grail.

The Les Paul Custom made its debut in 1954 after the initial success of the Les Paul Goldtop. Mr. Les Paul himself wanted to convey to audiences that the solid body electric guitar was not a fad but a superb and challenging instrument and that his signature axe, the Les Paul, was the king of all electric solid body guitars. So, Les requested a Les Paul with a custom color finish in solid black and solid white with gold hardware that would blend well with a tuxedo.

The result was the Les Paul Custom, or the “tuxedo” Les Paul, as it became known among fans. The Les Paul Custom quickly became one of the most recognized guitars in the world and Les himself used his Les Paul Custom in concert, on his weekly television show with wife Mary Ford and on his album covers, including his famous duet with pal Chet Atkins, Chester and Lester.

*We personally and meticulously select amazing quality refurbished instruments from the best certified distributor, based in Texas, that all major brands trust and use. Rest assured the ‘refurbished/used’ instruments we feature on Rockin’ Instruments are in mint condition and play like new.

Their factory is one of the largest and highest volume shops in the country. Their restoration shop has been awarded a "Gold" level certification from Fender and employs one "Gold," six "Silver," and several "Bronze" level repair technicians. They receive instruments directly from manufacturers for various reasons including; discontinued products, cosmetic flaws, minor repairs. This means when the refurbishing factory received the instrument directly from the manufacturer, their technicians inspected the instrument and determined the instrument had no flaws.

Then, each  instrument is inspected, tested, and professionally set up by certified technicians. Every instrument goes through five different inspections. Before being shipped to us, the Quality Control Manager decides which level of condition the instrument is in. The factory then lightly stamps "USED" onto the instrument. They also provide the instrument with a new serial number to avoid false warranty claims.
